There are various arguments about the impact of the closure of unregistered social media platforms in Nepal. Stakeholders have expressed concern that as social media has become a means of keeping people busy, discontent and frustration (despair) can be directly seen on the streets.
According to experts, platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X or YouTube have made the younger generation active online. But when all these platforms are closed, that same activism will turn into discontent and turn into street protests.
