The bridge over the Triyuga River has not yet been built.
The Gaighat-Fatepur road is home to about 40,000 people across the Triyuga River, which flows through the Chure Phedi area of Chaudandigadhi Municipality and Triyuga Municipality. However, the locals are forced to suffer daily as this area has been without a bridge for the past ten years.
According to social worker Mahendra Bahadur Basnet, this road was built during the Panchayat rule, but no bridge has been built till date. Due to floods and heavy rains in dozens of rivers including Thadi River, Falam River and Kholsi, the lives of the locals are in chaos.
“People suffering from snake bites, sudden illnesses or any accidents cannot reach the hospital or the district headquarters due to floods. In such a situation, there is no option but to face death,” Basnet said, expressing his pain.
He further alleged that while seeking votes in the elections, these rivers were made a matter of ‘solutions’ and ‘promises’, but the construction of bridges was never a priority! That is why the locals have been suffering for years!
