Kora Cycling Challenge Successful in Chaudandigari
Beltar to Fattepur route
The team left from Pushpalal Chowk, crossed Madibas and Gangate via Beltar-Dhapar. They turned towards Welka-Supade and Shaniyari and reached Ambasi. From there, they returned from Saptakoshi-Fatepur and connected Sundarpur, Siwai, Ajagada, Hadiya and Jyamire and ended at the bus park. The entire route was measured with joy by the community, and efforts were made to keep the track clean and safe.
Rituals and formalities
The mayor of the city, Kaluman Lama, cut the ribbon and wished the journey. According to Newari tradition, the participants were offered eggs, soybeans, alcohol and curd. The presence of Ward 6 President Ambar Bahadur Khadka and the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Govinda Thapa increased the credibility of the project.
Objectives and Impact
Chaudandigadhi Cycle City aimed to bring sports into everyday life, promote cycling culture and instill clean habits. The Kora Challenge showcased domestic tourism—new visitors were introduced to the markets, squares, and settlements along the route. A commitment to support social work through voluntary financial collection was made public, which presented a model of transparent local sports management.
Leadership and Participation
30 people participated under the coordination of Chairman Anil Poudel. The presence of social leaders including former mayor Khagendra Rai and Ward 4 chairman Lungraj Rai instilled confidence in institutionalizing new challenges. After the success of the first edition, participants concluded that improvements such as regular routes, safety instructors, and hydration points could be implemented immediately.
Youth Energy and Signals
Young men and women in the urban area are forming small groups and joining activities such as cycling, cleanliness, traffic awareness, and blood donation. This establishes a healthy routine, helps to stay away from drugs, and increases responsibility towards the community. Repeating the program with similar discipline, local partnerships, and clean route maps will further strengthen the credibility of Chaudandigadhi Cycle City.
