Two tragic accidents and fire in Udayapur.
Incident and timeline
On 30th of Sharan, Chaudandigadhi-6, a collision occurred near the Dwarkhola bridge on Madan Bhandari Highway. According to public information on 28th Bhadra morning, the driver's death was registered at Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar at 11:30 pm on 29th Bhadra. Although the incident occurred on the same road, immediate traffic management was seen to be necessary to prevent further risks.
Vehicle number and initial facts
A motorcycle, Ko 1 Ja 8799 Sumo, heading towards Gaighat from Itahari, and Pr-2-02-003 Pa 3708, heading towards Dharan from Dhanusha, collided. Initial information indicates that the impact of the collision was caused by overtaking. Signage and visibility assessment near the incident site will be part of the investigation.
Victim identification and treatment status
The motorcycle driver, Binod Lama, aged 48, a resident of Dhanushadham-8, died in the hospital. The rear passenger, 45-year-old Safal Sada, is undergoing treatment. Both psychological support and medical monitoring of the family are indispensable. Important updates will be made public by the concerned body as per the hospital protocol.
Driver Control and Legal Process
Sumo driver Prem Karki of Udayapur, Triyuga-6 has been taken into custody. He is at the Area Police Office, Beltar. Details related to documents, brake lights, speed and route will be clear after forensic evaluation. According to the law, guilt and liability will be established in court.
Tipper fire and damage
At 11:45 AM yesterday in Katari-1, Churiya, Na 8 Kha 5941, a ballast-carrying tipper caught fire due to a wiring short circuit in the cabin. There was no human casualty. The estimated damage is around Rs. 1.9 million. The police and fire brigade brought it under control at 12:50 PM. Investigation is ongoing to identify the source and repair measures.
